Mwinshehe, a self-taught guitarist, immersed himself in the world of kwela music alongside the Cuban Branch Jazz during his teenage years. His musical journey expanded as he studied singing under the guidance of Salim Abdullah, a key figure in Morogoro Jazz and the founder of the Cuban Marimba Band.

Continuing to evolve as a vocalist, Mwinshehe’s creative potential was still on the rise when he tragically passed away. In the year 2000, Dizim initiated the release of a series of reissues featuring Mwinshehe’s music.
